Sustainability Reporting
Sustainability reporting is notoriously difficult to navigate. Organizations are being asked to report into multiple frameworks (CSRD, CDP, ISSB…), each with its own disjointed, complex experience.
What if one experience could power reporting across all frameworks?
What if completing a sustainability report felt as easy as filling out a form?
What if we could pre-populate reports with data we already had?
What if collaboration was built in from the start?

New product vertical launched for Persefoni
We knew supporting multiple reporting frameworks could quickly spiral out of scope, so we took a structured approach. We listed every potential feature we wanted, ranging from basic form completion to advanced cross-framework answer syncing and mapped them in FigJam.
Features were ranked by impact (low to high) and complexity (simple to complex), creating a clear importance/difficulty matrix.
This helped us identify high-impact, low-effort must-haves for launch and deprioritize costly, lower-value features. Aligning early meant we had a well-defined scope before getting too far into designing the experience.
An importance / difficulty matrix is an effective way to get a team aligned around the proper scope for a feature.
I made heavy use of Figma's variables in this prototype as it let me create fully-featured, logic driven micro-interactions.
With a clear plan, we designed an approachable yet powerful tool where users could navigate reports by section, track progress, and collaborate seamlessly. High-fidelity prototypes drove our process, helping refine interactions, guide engineering, and even enable early marketing efforts.
While finalizing the prototype, we tested it with internal climate experts and external users. This helped us validate the flow and catch usability issues early.
Prototyping paid off again here. We gathered feedback, iterated quickly, and avoided expensive changes in code later on.
A spreadsheet is the number one user research tool. Excellent for taking notes and makes being able to do analysis a breeze later.
I served as both the principal product designer and pitched in as a product manager on this project. Because I had designed the full experience, I was able to write many of the Jira tickets myself, translating design decisions directly into actionable tasks for engineering.
In January 2025, we launched the Sustainability Reporting tool, making it available across both our enterprise offering and free tier.
This release marked a major milestone for Persefoni, expanding our capabilities beyond carbon accounting to full-scale sustainability reporting.
By bridging the gap between measurement and disclosure, we unlocked a new business vertical, empowering organizations to seamlessly report against leading frameworks while reinforcing Persefoni’s position as a comprehensive sustainability partner.
